DESCRIPTION:On February 1-2\, Community Not Commodity’s volunteers will be going door-to-door in neighborhoods throughout Austin urging local residents to file rezoning protests at FileYourProtest.com. \nFiling official rezoning protests at FileYourProtest.com is the best way to fight the City of Austin’s controversial rezoning plan. If you’ve already filed a protest\, please spend February 1-2 urging your neighbors to do the same. \nFiling a rezoning protest protects properties within 200 feet of a protester’s property\, so neighbors who work together can quickly protect entire city blocks. Neighbors can also band together to protest the rezoning of property that none of them own\, such as a nearby commercial development. When the owners of at least 20 percent of the area within 200 feet of a property protest the rezoning of that property jointly\, the City of Austin cannot rezone it without approval of three-fourths of the city council (9 of 11 votes).
